I have been using the iPad since its introduction in April but the apps I am using the most have been of a personal nature. Things like calendars, nutritional diaries, web sites, etc.

However, my next area of investigation in the productivity realm will be with project tracking/time tracking apps. I am becoming very interested in the impact of this work, and all the other work that might be beyond the coaching part of my job, as the result of the resources (perhaps time) expended. We will see where that might go.

Hi Gary, a great book I've read on that topic is Scott Belsky's Making Ideas Happen (I may have spelled his name wrong. It is in the iPad book store. Also, I wanted to mention that I've been using the blue tooth keyboard, and I love it! It turns the iPad into a real computer, especially if you use Pages for word processing. I'll try to attach a photo.

I, too, have been using the iPad since its inception and find myself using it mostly for things that I would do on my laptop or iPhone, but...video is so beautiful on it, I've been trying to find a way to use it as a quick-access video playback device...press a button and watch a video. The video playback app is ok, but not nearly immediate enough for my taste.
Keynote is disappointing at its best and infuriating the rest of the time. I'm hoping that those of us who use iPads with teachers will be able to find appropriate apps and I'm anxious to see what others are using.

Thanks Denny. I haven't used Keynote yet, and love it on the Mac. IS there any way to use it with a remote at all?

Jim, I love Keynote on my Mac, but the application on the iPad is a huge disappointment. It won't work with a remote (as far as I can figure it out), so you really can't use it with a projector. The worst thing for me, though, is that hyperlinks won't work within a presentation. That's a deal-breaker. I need a program interactive enough to allow me to adjust as I work through a presentation. Also, when used with a projector, the only thing on the iPad screen is a pair of giant forward and back arrows and some illegible thumbnails. No preview of the next slide nor can you see your speaker notes. Unconscionable.

Thanks again Denny. For me, if there's no remote, that is a deal breaker to use your very appropriate term. I might trade off some other features, but I need the ability to present without moving back and forth to the computer every time I need to advance a slide.

I use Popplet for showing ideas to teachers visually and for visually representing my thoughts and ideas. For example, a teacher asked me how she could use station teaching, and I created a visual in less than a minute. When I was on a plane trip, I created a complete diagram of the reading process. It is sort of like Inspiration software only easier.

The other app I use for coaching is Dragon Dictation. Anyone can speak and it will record and convert it to text (without voice training). You can copy and paste the notes or send them automatically in an email.

@Tina. Thanks for the tip. I've got to try out that Dragon Dictation and soon. That could save me a lot of work doing transcription.

How hard or easy is Dragon Dictation to use? It's only been one week of school and I am already seeing my 3 periods a week is NOT enough for coaching. I am looking for something that can easily be used to document anecdotally my Coaching Diary. Would this work for that purpose?
