I'm on the hunt for some good articles to help our teachers understand the purpose behind common assessments.  We have created then, used then, and in some cases they have trasformed our teaching.  I think this is an area we can certainly grow more in and I'm wondering if anyone has located articles that can both inform our practices and spark discussion among our staff.  Thanks in advance for your responses.

Our district is using the text "Seven Strategies of Assessment for Learning" by Jan Chappuis. Robert Marzano has also done research along the same lines. I haven't read Marzano's work yet, but the Chappuis book would be a good selection for a book study.
